By accessing or using the Chaverim of Queens website (chaverimofqueens.org) or contacting us for assistance, you agree to be bound by the following Terms of Service. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please do not use our services or website.
1. Purpose of the Organization
Chaverim of Queens is a volunteer-based organization that provides non-emergency assistance to members of the community. Our services are offered on a voluntary basis by trained individuals giving of their own time and resources.
2. Use of the Website
You may use the website for lawful purposes only. You agree not to use this site in any way that may damage, disable, overburden, or impair the website or interfere with any other user’s use.
You also agree not to attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the site, accounts, computer systems, or networks connected to the site through hacking or other means.
3. Service Limitations
Chaverim of Queens is not a substitute for emergency services. If you are experiencing a life-threatening emergency or require immediate medical, fire, or police assistance, please call 911.
We reserve the right to refuse service at our discretion, especially if a request falls outside the scope of our volunteer mission or presents a safety concern for our members.
4. User Responsibilities
If you request assistance, you agree to:
Provide accurate, truthful information about your situation
Cooperate respectfully with our volunteers
Not misuse or abuse the service in any way
Abuse of the service or threatening behavior toward volunteers may result in permanent denial of service.
5. Privacy
Our use of personal data is governed by our Privacy Policy. By using our services, you consent to the collection and use of your information as described there.
6. Disclaimer of Warranties
Chaverim of Queens provides its services “as is” and “as available,” without any warranties of any kind. We make no guarantees regarding response time, availability, or results. Our volunteers do their best, but all assistance is provided on a voluntary and non-contractual basis.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Chaverim of Queens shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from or related to your use of our services or website.
You agree that any assistance provided is at your own risk, and Chaverim of Queens, its volunteers, or its administrators are not responsible for any loss or damage that may result.
8. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to update or modify these Terms of Service at any time. Changes will be posted to this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of our services after changes means you accept the updated terms.

SMS Communications and Opt-Out – “By providing your mobile number, you consent to receive SMS messages from us regarding our services, and other relevant information. You can opt out at any time by replying “STOP” to a message sent to you. After you send the SMS message “STOP” to us, we will send you a confirmation SMS to acknowledge that you have been unsubscribed. After this, you will no longer receive SMS messages from us. However, we may still communicate with you — for example, to send you service-related messages necessary for the administration and use of your account, to respond to service requests, or for other non-marketing purposes. If you want to join again, just sign up as you did the first time or send “START”, and we will start sending SMS messages to you again.”

Carriers and Messaging – “Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. We do our best to ensure timely delivery of SMS messages, but cannot guarantee that messages will be received by you in a timely manner. As always, message and data rates may apply for any messages sent to you from us and to us from you. If you have any questions about your text or data plan, please contact your wireless provider.”
